Hoya manipurensis
Specimen IDPJ-HOYAHOYA7156
HK$188.00
Collectors who seek out the less-trodden corners of the Hoya genus find their way to Hoya manipurensis eventually — and usually stay. Named for Manipur in northeastern India, where it grows in the humid forests of the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot, this is a species that carries the quiet distinction of genuine rarity. Not flashy in the way variegated plants demand attention; more understated, more interesting the longer you look.
The leaves have substance to them — thick, waxy, developing a beautiful depth of colour in good light. In cultivation it remains relatively uncommon, which makes acquiring a healthy specimen something of a small achievement. A plant for patient collectors who value significance as much as spectacle.
Care Guide
- Light: Medium to bright indirect light. Adapts well to indoor conditions without demanding a prime spot.
- Watering: Let soil dry between waterings. Like all Hoyas — consistent dryness beats consistent overwatering every time.
- Humidity: 60–70% ideal, reflecting its humid forest origins. A pebble tray or humidifier helps.
- Temperature: 18–28°C. No frost; prefers consistently warm conditions.
- Soil: Well-draining, airy mix. Avoid heavy potting soils.
