Hoya obovata already has one of the most satisfying leaf shapes in the genus: round, thick, and almost sculptural — like someone designed a wax plant and then decided to make it even more architectural. Hoya obovata ‘Albomarginata’ takes those deep green, succulent-textured discs and traces a clean white margin around each one, turning what was already a beautiful leaf into something considerably more refined. A study in the power of restraint.
Native to India and the surrounding Himalayan-adjacent region, obovata is among the more forgiving Hoyas in cultivation — drought-tolerant, adaptable, and rewarding even for beginners. The albomarginata form maintains all of that easy temperament while adding the extra visual detail that elevates a collection. One of the more underrated Hoyas for collectors who appreciate elegance over drama.

Care Guide
- Light: Bright, indirect light — keeps the white margins crisp and vivid. Tolerates moderate light better than most variegated Hoyas.
- Watering: Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Very drought-tolerant once established.
- Humidity: 50–70%. Adapts to average indoor humidity reasonably well.
- Temperature: 15–28°C. Tolerates a slightly wider range than many tropical Hoyas.
- Soil: Well-draining; perlite-heavy potting mix or cactus blend.
- Flowering: Produces star flower clusters when given a consistently bright spot. Keep old spurs — new blooms return each season.
