Hoya campanulata
Specimen IDPJ-HOYAHOYA7149
HK$238.00
Hoya campanulata — named for its distinctive bell-shaped flowers that dangle like tiny pale lanterns, this is one of the more unusual members of an already extraordinary genus.
Native to Southeast Asia, campanulata produces clusters of waxy, cream to greenish-white blooms that appear almost otherworldly when they emerge. The leaves are thick, elliptical, and a deep lustrous green — built to store moisture and handle the occasional missed watering with grace. It’s an epiphyte by nature, which means it appreciates good airflow around its roots and absolutely hates sitting in wet soil.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning sun will encourage flowering. Avoid harsh afternoon direct sun.
- Watering: Allow the potting mix to mostly dry out between waterings. In winter, water even less. Hoyas store water in their leaves — drought is far safer than rot.
- Humidity: 50–70% ideal, but campanulata is more tolerant than most Hoyas. Good ventilation matters more than high humidity.
- Temperature: 18–28°C (65–82°F). Protect from cold drafts below 12°C.
- Soil: Chunky, free-draining mix — orchid bark, perlite, and a little potting soil. Never dense, never waterlogged.
- Flowering: Never remove old peduncles (flower spurs) — new clusters emerge from the same spot season after season.
