Hoya spartiodes
HK$588.00
Available to order
The first time you see Hoya spartiodes, the question arrives almost immediately: where are the leaves? This extraordinary species produces long, pendulous green stems with only vestigial, scale-like leaves — giving it a look somewhere between a succulent, a coral, and an abstract sculpture. In a world of lush tropical foliage, it is a genuinely different kind of beautiful.
Native to Southeast Asia, spartiodes uses its thick photosynthetic stems in place of conventional leaves — an elegant evolutionary trade-off that also makes it remarkably drought-tolerant. The payoff comes in flower: clusters of intensely fragrant, creamy blooms that can quietly fill a room. A plant for collectors who want something that makes people stop and ask questions.

Care Guide
- Light: Bright indirect to some filtered direct sun — important for stem health and flowering.
- Watering: Very drought-tolerant. Let soil dry out completely before watering again. Water sparingly in cooler months.
- Humidity: 50–70% ideal, but handles drier indoor conditions better than most Hoyas.
- Temperature: 18–30°C. Prefers warmth; protect from cold.
- Soil: Very well-draining — cactus/succulent mix blended with orchid bark works perfectly.
- Display: Hang or trail to show off the pendulous stems — they are the whole aesthetic.
