Alocasia azlanii Alocasia, the star of Brunei
Cultivation methods:
Watering: Alocasia plants prefer to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top surface of the soil to dry slightly before watering. Ensure that the water thoroughly penetrates the soil and drains out from the bottom of the pot. Reduce the frequency of watering during the winter season, as plants tend to have slower growth rates in lower temperatures.
Light: Alocasia plants prefer bright, indirect light and are not tolerant of direct sunlight. You can place them in a bright spot near a window with filtered light or provide them with ample indoor lighting. Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
Temperature: Alocasia plants prefer warm environments with temperatures ranging between 18-25°C (64-77°F). Avoid exposing them to extreme cold or hot temperatures as it can negatively affect their growth.
Humidity: Alocasia plants prefer high humidity environments. If the indoor air is dry, you can increase humidity by using a humidifier or placing a tray of water or pebbles around the plant. This will help to create a more humid microclimate for the Alocasia.
Fertilization: During the growing season (spring and summer), you can fertilize the Alocasia with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month. Reduce or stop fertilization during the winter when the plant is in a dormant phase.
