Hoya pubicalyx ‘Silver Moon’ — if regular Hoyas are beautiful, Silver Moon is the one that makes other Hoyas jealous. The dark, glossy green leaves are scattered with silver flecks that look like someone shook a metallic brush across each one — no two leaves quite the same.
Native to the Philippines, pubicalyx is one of the more generous-flowering Hoyas, producing ball-shaped clusters of deep burgundy-red blooms with a sweet chocolate-vanilla fragrance that intensifies in the evenings. It’s a fast grower by Hoya standards, vines readily, and rewards even moderately good care with regular blooms. Whether you’re new to Hoyas or deep in a collection, Silver Moon earns its place.

Care Guide
- Light: Bright indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning or evening sun accelerates growth and flowering. More light = more blooms.
- Watering: Let the mix dry out almost completely between waterings. Hoyas are semi-succulent — thick leaves store water. When in doubt, wait.
- Humidity: Adaptable — happy from 40–70%. Good ventilation matters more than chasing high humidity.
- Temperature: 18–30°C (65–86°F). Loves warmth. Keep above 13°C in winter.
- Soil: Very well-draining — heavy on orchid bark and perlite. Roots need air as much as moisture.
- Flowering: Never remove old peduncles. New blooms emerge from the same woody spurs year after year.
- Support: Train up a trellis or let cascade from a high shelf. Both are spectacular.
